2020 has already been one for the record books, although not in any way we would have foreseen. Everyone from kindergartners to stay-at-home parents is now well-versed in virtual meeting software. Many have become virtual experts in comfort wear, television show binging, and jigsaw puzzles. It is, without a doubt, a year that you will never forget. Why not commemorate it with some collectible coins?

2020 Royal Canadian Mint Coins

The Royal Canadian Mint is excited to present the new 2020 coins and collections. As our world keeps evolving, there are so many notable people, places, and events in our past that should be celebrated. Looking through collectible coins is a virtual walk throughout history. Collecting limited edition coins is a way to invest in your future. This year, our team at Colonial Acres Coins is excited about three notable additions. Maple Leaf Anniversary

In 1979, the Royal Canadian Mint issued its first-ever Canadian Gold Maple Leaf. This 24-karat coin was revolutionary in its purity, as it was made without any base metal. Since it's release, it has been one of the Royal Canadian Mint's most popular coins, with more than 25 million Troy ounces sold worldwide. It marks an inaugural run for the Winnepeg facility, as it is the first time in 43 years that it has issued pure gold and fine silver numismatic coins.

Introducing the maple leaf anniversary coins:

2020 $5 Fine Silver Coin - Silver Maple Leaf
2020 $50 Pure Gold Coin - Gold Maple Leaf with a 'W' mint mark.

Silver and Gold Maple Leaf

Both of these stunning specimens were designed to pay homage to the Maple Leaf gold bullion coins. They feature a unique, almost matte finish, along with a signature 'W' mint mark to identify that they were made in the Winnipeg, Manitoba, production facility. If you would like to have a part in this special offering, you'll have to move fast. There were only 10,000 of the silver edition and 400 of the gold version minted.

The Hudson Bay Company

With the distinction of being the oldest business in the English speaking world, the Hudson Bay Company was chartered in 1670. It started as a fur trading company inextricably tied to not only the settlement of North America but the development of Canada. Initially headquartered in London, it is now located in Brampton, Ontario. You may recognize some of its modern retailers Saks Fifth Avenue and Lord and Taylor, as well as the namesake Hudson's Bay, all operating under the HBC brand portfolio.

This year, the Royal Canadian Mint celebrates this venerable company with the 2020 $10 Fine Silver Coin - 350th Anniversary of Hudson's Bay Company. Only 10,000 of these beautiful silver coins were minted. This lovely collectors' item is packaged in a custom HBC branded box. You will not want to miss out on this.

Floral Emblems

The Floral Emblems of Canada 13 coin series was released in May. Each coin represents a territory along with its unique floral emblem with the likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the reverse side. The intricate detailing on the border surrounding the floral portrait gives the look of antique jewelry. At a diameter of 27 millimetre, these gorgeous coins would make a stunning pendant necklace.

A new coin will be issued each month from March 2020 to March 2021. The first two stunning coins in the series were released earlier this year. A display box for all of the coins in the series will be included with each monthly subscription. Each coin mintage is limited to only 4,000. The full set, skillfully illustrated by artist Lisa Thomson-Khan, includes:
