According to statistics, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death among Canadian women. These alarming statistics probably played a key role on the release of this 2006 Pink Ribbon 25 cents original roll of 40 pieces.

Unveiled together with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, the coins in the roll are the world's second coloured circulation coins. The design is created by Cosme Saffioti, the Director of Engraving and Master Engraver of the Royal Canadian Mint.
