2023 Canada $200 Ultra-High Relief 1oz. Gold Maple Leaf (No Tax)
A follow-up to the first Ultra High Relief (UHR) Gold Maple Leaf (GML) coin issued in 2022! Struck in a reverse proof finish, this dazzling 99.99% pure gold collector coin boasts an impressive peak relief height of 1.8 mm on its reverse, where the GML leaf is plated with platinum. A new addition for 2023, selective platinum plating creates a luxurious colour contrast on both sides of the coin, but it is particularly impressive on the reverse, where the silvery-white shine focuses all your attention on the breathtaking UHR maple leaf.
The coin’s reverse features Walter Ott’s Gold Maple Leaf (GML) design, a classic since 1979. Struck in Ultra High Relief, the iconic bullion maple leaf is plated with platinum and surrounded by the words “CANADA”, “FINE GOLD 1 OZ OR PUR” and the purity standard of “9999”. The rim is also plated with platinum on both sides, while the obverse features the platinum-plated effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. The obverse also bears a special marking that includes four pearls symbolizing the four effigies that have graced Canadian coins and the double date of her reign.
