Ancient Kings of Parthia 123-88BC Mithradates II Silver Drachm Extra Fine (EF-40)

Mithradates II, also known as Mithradates the Great, was a powerful ruler of the Parthian Empire who reigned from approximately 124 to 88 BCE. His rule marked a high point for the Parthian state, expanding its territory and influence significantly. Under Mithradates II, Parthia extended its control over much of Iran, Mesopotamia, and parts of Central Asia, establishing the empire as a dominant force in the region. He is credited with stabilizing the empire’s borders, creating a strong administration, and initiating diplomatic relations with both the Han Dynasty of China and the Roman Republic, which opened up new trade routes along the Silk Road. His successful consolidation of power and diplomatic achievements earned him the title "King of Kings" and solidified the Parthian Empire's place in the ancient world.

Reverse: An archer wearing bashlyk and cloak seated on a throne facing to the right, holding a bow an arrow in the right hand, with a square four line Greek inscription.
