Obverse: A sloop (a sailboat defined by a single mast, a mainsail behind the mast, and one headsail in front of it) sailing to the right with the denomination above, and legend below.
Reverse: Crossed shovels over an anvil, with the date below, and the legend above.

UC-9A2 Variety: On the obverse, the Bowsprit points between the "DA" of CANADA. On the reverse, there is wide spacing between the handles of the shovels, the right handle is far from the "L" in COMMERCIAL and is under it, and the token has a medallic die axis.
