2007 Canada Victory Nickel 4-Coin Novelty Collection (light wear)
Assembled by the First Commemorative Mint, this novelty collection brings together four variations of the famous Canadian Victory nickel. Displaying a torch and "V" in place of the usual beaver, the coin circualted to promote Canada's efforts in the Second World War. The "V" has a clever two-fold meaning: both "V" for "Victory" and "V," as in the Roman numeral for "5." The coin was minted in tombac in 1943 -- a sort of low-cost brass -- and steel through the end of the war, since nickel, copper, and zinc were more necessary for the war effort. The set also includes the 2005 re-issue that commemorated the 60th anniversary of the end of the war.
