USA Independence National Historical Park Liberty Bell Souvenir Medallion

Independence National Historical Park is located in Pennsylvania. Founded to preserve Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were debated and signed, Independence Park is central to American history and is, rightfully, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park is also home to the Liberty Bell, which used to hang in Independence Hall but is now housed in its own museum. Commissioned in 1752, the bell was used to summon lawmakers and citizens to public meetings, including, most likely, those involved in the movement towards American Independence. It cracked in 1846, following an attempt to repair a hairline fracture, but was preserved as a symbol of the revolutionary spirit of the early United States.

This souvenir medallion from Independence National Historical Park features the Liberty Bell on the obverse, and Independence Hall on the reverse. It is quite hefty, measuring 5 centimetres in diameter and weighing over 55 grams.
