Canada-USA Border Fantasy Island Amusement Park Good Luck Souvenir Token
Operational from 1961 to 2025, the Niagara Amusement Park and Splash World (formerly the much catchier "Fantasy Island") was a classic amusement park situated on Grand Island, New York, near Niagara Falls. Copying the blueprint laid down by Disneyland, the park opened with five themed areas: Action Town, Animal Kingdom, Garden of Fables, Indian Village, and Western Town. Like Disneyland, it also aired a weekly television show. When the 1979 oil crisis hit, the park began struggling to make ends meet. It fought its way through multiple sales, lawsuits, and name changes before finally succumbing to dilapidation and low attendance in 2025.
This souvenir "Good Luck" token celebrates friendship between Canada and the United States. Populations from both countries congregated at Fantasy Island for decades, and this token represents the flags of both nations crossed over each other. The reverse shows a horseshoe and a wishbone -- symbols of good luck.
