2008 25-cent Birds of Canada: Northern Cardinal ICCS Certified SP67
One of southeastern Canada's most iconic songbirds, the Northern Cardinal can often be seen chasing other birds away from feeders. Named for the red robes worn by Catholic Cardinals, the vibrant males in particular were once popular cage birds. It is the female, however, who has the larger vocal range, often singing from her nest to communicate with her mate.
This cupronickel coin features a beautiful, colourized Northern Cardinal on the reverse. This coin has been inspected by ICCS and assigned a grade of SP67.
