In 1914, a very drunk survey crew thought it would be a lark to vandalize the town sign in Biggar, Saskatchewan. "New York Is Big," they wrote, "But This Is ..." Biggar. You know. Like "bigger." Apparently, this was so hilarious that the graffiti stayed up for forty entire years. In 1954, the sign was removed, but the message was enshrined as the town's official motto, which it remains to this day. In response, we humbly suggest that New York City change its motto from "I Heart NY" to "Biggar Is Bigger, But New York Is, In Fact, Geographically and Demographically Quite A Bit Larger." We have a good feeling it'll sell a lot of t-shirts.
This $2 trade token features Biggar's absolutely hilarious motto on the reverse. The obverse spotlights the town's other claim to fame: the world's largest white-tailed deer was shot near Biggar in 1993 by Milo Hanson.
