Bathtub racing -- literally a whimsical race between boats built around bathtubs -- originated in Nanaimo in 1967. This large 1975 medallion celebrates Nanaimo's ninth annual bathtub race. The obverse shows a stylized captain and mate racing a bathtub, whilst the reverse identifies the token as good for $1 in trade. Token measures just over 4 cm in diameter at its widest point.
