When George VI and Elizabeth were crowned King and Queen of the United Kingdom in 1937, a wide variety of these commemorative coronation medals were produced. This example features the overlapping, crowned busts of the king and queen on the obverse. The reverse identifies the medal as having been issued by the Township of York. The top of the medal features a loop that would have attached to a ribbon.
