Lot of 17x Egypt 1985-2017 Banknotes, 25 & 50 Piastres, 17pcs

Located in the northeast corner of Africa along the banks of the Nile River, Egypt boasts one of the longest recorded histories of any country on earth. This rich history, of which modern Egyptians are very proud, is celebrated on Egyptian banknotes. This lot includes two types of notes:

• 10x 25 Piastre Notes, used between 1985 and 2008. These notes feature the Egyptian coat of arms on the Reverse and the Sayeda Aisha Mosque on the obverse. This modern mosque contains the tomb of Aisha bint Ja'far al-Sadiq, a revered 6th-century Islamic scholar and daughter of the sixth Shia Imam, Ja'far al-Sadiq.
• 7x 50 Piastre Notes, dated 2017. These notes feature Al-Azhar Mosque on the obverse, a 10th-century mosque constructed to be the religious heart of the new Fatimid capital, Cairo. The reverse shows a unique statue of Ramses II that is, today, housed in the Cairo Museum. Considered one of Egypt's greatest pharaohs, Ramses ruled for a record 66 years during the height of his kingdom's power and expanded Egyptian influence into Syria, Canaan, Phoenicia, and Nubia.
