Bathtub racing -- literally a whimsical race between boats built around bathtubs -- originated in Nanaimo in 1967. This large 1970 medallion celebrates Nanaimo's fourth annual bathtub race. The obverse shows a stylized captain and mate racing a bathtub, whilst the reverse identifies the token as good for $1 in trade.
