Romania 1900 5 Bani Almost Uncirculated (AU-50) $
The Romania 1900 5 Bani coin was issued during the height of the Kingdom of Romania under its first monarch, King Carol I (1881–1914), a ruler who guided the nation through an era of independence and modernization. Struck at the Royal Mint in Brussels, Belgium, rather than domestically in Bucharest, the coin shows Romania’s then-limited minting capacity and industrial infrastructure. Outsourcing production to a respected European mint not only ensured the creation of high-quality small-denomination coinage but also symbolized Romania’s growing economic credibility and willingness to engage with international countries to sustain a stable, convertible currency.
