Eritrea 1997 5 cents NGC Certified Genuine
Located in the Horn of Africa, Eritrea is bordered by Ethiopia, Sudan, and Djibouti. Its highly desirable location has made it, for much of its history, a target for annexation, and since the 19th century it has passed from Egypt to Italy to Great Britain to Ethiopia. After the Eritrean War of Independence, Eritrea gained de facto independence in 1991 -- which is celebrated on the reverse of this coin. The obverse shows a leopard lounging in a tree.
