DC-25e-E25a-i 1923 Dominion of Canada $1 McCavour-Saunders, Cut Off Size, Bronze Seal, Group 1, Series R, F-VF

Adorning the 1923 Dominion of Canada $1 banknote is King George V. The layout of the 1923 $1 Dominion notes was strategic in which a space to the right of King George V's portrait was left bare to be stamped with a seal by the Department of Finance. These seals were used to identify which notes were returned for redemption or destruction during the sorting process. There are six different colour seals that were used on the 1923 $1 notes: black, red, blue, green, bronze (known as "purple-brown) and purple ("lilac").

In addition to the Department of Finance seals, the 1923 $1 issues were divided into four groups. Each group number can be found to the right of the seal in the same colour.

The 1923 Dominion of Canada $1 Banknotes were printed by the Canadian Bank Note Company (formally known as the American Bank Note Company).
