PE-5B1 (1860) PEI Speed the Plough Half Penny Token VF-EF (VF30)

This token was imported into Prince Edward Island by Clift, Wood & Co. of Charlottetown. The clevis variety was issued in 1859, while the hook variety was struck by Ralph Heaton & Sons of Birmingham around 1860, and large quantities were subsequently exported into Newfoundland.

Obverse: A fish filet with "Success to the Fisheries" around.
Reverse: A plow facing right with a hook, "Speed the Plough Half Penny" around.
