2008 USA Barack Obama "Change" 4-Coin Collection
"Change" was the major theme of Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign, and it resonated so strongly with the American public that he was elected the 44th President of the United States. The first president of African American descent, who pioneered policies that promised affordable healthcare, emissions reductions, workers' rights, and LGBT acceptance. His presidency seemed to point towards a more accepting and enlightened future.
This four-coin set, amusingly titled the Obama Change Collection, comes with a Presidential Dollar, a JFK half dollar, and two State quarters that relate to Obama's personal history: Hawaii, where he was born, and Illinois, where he served as a Senator. Each coin features a colourful portrait of Obama. Coins are presented in a sturdy folder that doubles as a COA.
