Spanning the mountains and valleys of central California, Yosemite was established as a National Park in 1890. The word "Yosemite," interestingly, means "They Are Killers" in Miwok, which was the name the Miwok gave to the Awalanche people who called the area home. Evidently, they didn't think very highly of them! Yosemite today sees about four million visitors annually, and is home to a variety of fauna including black bears, coyotes, raccoons, foxes, cougars, bobcats, and otters.
This handsome collectible sheet brings together two Yosemite National Park quarters -- part of the America the Beautiful series that ran from 2010 to 2021 -- and a coloured $2 note that features Yosemite behind Thomas Jefferson's head.
