Vatican City 1942 Pope Pius XII Souvenir Medallion Folder (moderate wear)
The papacy of Pius XII was undoubtedly one of the most consequential of any modern Pope, having straddled the Second World War, the Holocaust, and the start of the Cold War. Controversially, Pius maintained an official statement of neutrality throughout these events. Depending on whom you ask, this either freed him diplomatically to help the victims of the Nazis or represents a callous indifference towards them. This souvenir medallion set from the Vatican dates to the height of the war -- 1942 -- and includes three pieces. It comes in its original, elegant presentation folder.
Please note, this set does exhibit some signs of age and handling. Specifically, the gold lining on the inside of the folder has deteriorated somewhat, and the coins are a bit loose and will slide around somewhat.
