Northern Ireland 1986 1 GBP Coin in Presentation Folder (light wear)

Northern Ireland 1986 1 GBP Coin in Presentation Folder (light wear)

Issued by the Royal Mint, this beautiful £1 coin celebrates Northern Ireland, featuring a bundle of flax on its reverse. Flax is the world's oldest known fibre, used by humans to create thread, cordage, and textiles for more than 30,000 years. Evidence of its use in Ireland dates as far back as 8000 BCE, and the production of its finer and more delicate cousin, linen, has been an Irish domestic industry for centuries. This handsome coin is one in a series celebrating the United Kingdom, with other coins featuring the thistle of Scotland and the leek of Wales. It comes in its original presentation folder, which is simply bursting with interesting information about flax, minting, and coinage in Northern Ireland.

Please note, this item is in very good shape but may exhibit some signs of light wear, age, or handling.
