1974 Nanaimo, BC, 8th Annual Bathtub Race Commemorative Brass Dollar Token
Bathtub racing -- literally a whimsical race between boats built around bathtubs -- originated in Nanaimo in 1967. This large 1974 medallion celebrates Nanaimo's eighth annual bathtub race. The obverse shows a stylized captain and mate racing a bathtub, whilst the reverse identifies the token as good for $1 in trade.
