NS-7B3 1814 Nova Scotia Cpt. Broke Token VG-F (VG-10)

Captain Philip Bowes Vere Broke was a Royal Navy officer who served during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, and the War of 1812. Often referred to as the "Broke of the Shannon", referencing his notable command of the HMS Shannon, Broke's most notable military achievement was defeating and capturing the USS Chesapeake in 1813. The following year, this token was struck honouring both Captain Broke and his victory.

Reverse: Britannia, seated facing left, holding a sprig in her right hand, and a trident in her left, a shield bearing the Union flag rest at her left, with two ships sailing in the background, the legend above, and the date below.

7B3 Variety:
Obverse: The thicker part of the cravat is at the top, and the "S" almost touches the "C" in SCOTIA.
Reverse: The two ships are of equal height.
