NS-1D3 1832 Nova Scotia George IV Half Penny Thistle Token Almost Uncirculated (AU-50)
The colonial government placed an order for 800,000 halfpennies in 1832. The order requested tokens of similar design to those previously sent with a new date added. The manufacturer, following instructions, struck the tokens with an obverse bust of George IV and reverse dated 1832, even though William IV became king two years earlier.
Obverse: Laureate portrait of George IV facing left, with the legend around.
Reverse: A thistle in centre, with the denomination above and the date below.
NS-1D3 Variety: The ribbons on the laurel wreath are equal length, the edge is engrailed.
