NS-13A1 1815 Nova Scotia Payable by Miles W. White Halifax Half Penny Token F-VF (F-15)

Miles W. White was a prominent hardware and ironmongery merchant in Halifax during the early 19th century. To help ease the severe shortage of small-denominational coinage that was occuring in Nova Scotia due to the Napoleonic Wars and the War of 1812, White, like other merchant, issued a half penny token, which is a favourite of collectors today.

Obverse: a barrel lying sideways within a circle, with the denomination above, and the date below.
Reverse: Inscription PAYABLE BY MILES W WHITE HALIFAX NS on six lines within a circle, with the legend around.
