2017 Cook Islands $5 Upper Deck: Connor McDavid 1oz. Coloured Fine Silver Coin in Box (No Tax) issues
In 2017, Upper Deck (of trading card fame) released the Grandeur Hockey Coin series. Intended as a "blind box," there were 20 players available in four different finishes and rarities: silver base (#/5000), high relief (#/1000), frosted silver (#/500) and 1/4 oz 24-carat gold (#/100). Buyers wouldn't know who or what they got until they purchased -- but, no matter what, it was still an ounce of silver or a quarter ounce of pure gold! This box contains a silver base Connor McDavid coin. McDavid is a centre and captain for the Edmonton Oilers, a four-time NHL First Team All-Star, a six-time recipient of the Art Ross Trophy, a five-time winner of the Ted Lindsay Award, a three-time recipient of the Hart Memorial Trophy, and the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy winner of 2022-2023 as the league's leading goal-scorer. He is widely considered to be one of the best hockey players of all time.
