Pair of 2013 Salaberry Canada 25-cent Original Rolls, 1 Colour 1 Non-Colour, 2pcs
Throughout 2012 and 2013, the Royal Canadian Mint commemorated the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 with a series of quarters celebrating its heroes. This one honours the actions of Lieutenant-Colonel Charles de Salaberry, who intercepted and repelled the American advance on Montreal at the Battle of Châteauguay. Legend has it that at the battle's onset, an American officer rode forward to demand that the little Canadian force surrender -- but he forgot something. It was the flag of truce that would have protected him, and so de Salaberry drew his gun and shot the American dead. What followed was a battle that saw de Salaberry severely outnumbered, but by cleverly positioning his buglers in the woods and having them sound the Advance, he convinced the Americans that they were about to be outnumbered themselves. The Yanks ran for the hills, and Montreal was saved.
This two-pack of Salaberry rolls includes one colour and one non-coloured set.
