Austria 1800B 3 Kreuzer Very Good (VG8) DOD
In 1800, Austria was ruled by the final Holy Roman Emperor, Francis II. It would not become a separate political entity until 1804, when it was officially created to consolidate Habsburg power in the face of Napoleon. By 1806, the Holy Roman Empire was crushed, and Francis II was now Francis I of Austria.
This 1800 coin represents the end of one of Europe's longest-lived and most powerful empires, and the birth of one that would become a major player in Western history. The "B" mint mark identifies it as having been made in Kremnica, Slovakia.
