1964 Lassen County, California, Centennial 50-cent Souvenir Trade Token with Information Card
Founded in 1864 in what was then Nevada, Lassen County was named for the frontiersman Peter Lassen. It was known for its mining, agriculture, and lumber production. In 1964, this 50-cent souvenir token was minted to celebrate the county's 100th anniversary. It comes stapled to its original information card, which is so very quaintly '60s: "Thank God for Lassen County, where men saw wood rather than deface pulp with comics, where soberly man tried to make himself at home on earth and is not content with a dizzy succession of Disney-Lands and believe-it-or-nots."
