New Zealand 1969 Blue Label Bicentennary Coin Set in Case (Issues)

In October of 1769, cartographer, mathematician, and Royal Navy explorer James Cook found himself gazing from the deck of his research vessel, HMS Endeavour, at an unknown coast in the southern Pacific Ocean. This was the vaguely conceptualized landmass known to the British Royal Society as Terra Australis Incognita (literally "Undiscovered Southern Land"), and it had only been glimpsed once before by European eyes (in 1642, by Dutch East India Company explorer Abel Tasman). On this, the first of two voyages to Terra Australis Incognita, Cook circumnavigated the island of New Zealand -- proving that it was, indeed, and island -- and charted both its coast, and a significant portion of the continent now known as Australia.

Issued by the Royal Australian Mint, this special set of polished-grade coins commemorates 200 years since Lieutenant James Cook's rediscovery of New Zealand. Seven coins are included: 1 cent, 2 cents, 5 cents, 10 cents, 20 cents, 50 cents, and a special one-dollar coin featuring Cook, HMS Endeavour, and a map of New Zealand. The set comes in a case with New Zealand Commemorative Coin Issue branding, dated 1969. Coins are still enclosed in their original pliofilm with blue label COA.

Please note, the set is in generally good condition, but there are some minor scratches and dings on both the case and the pliofilm. Some of the coins show toning -- including the special Cook dollar.
