Obverse: Canadian Habitant (early French settler in Canada, especially Quebec, or Louisana) standing in a traditional winter costume. The ground beneath the feet of the Habitant is weak, there is a period after Canada, and the coin orientation is medallic.
Reverse: The Arms of the City of Montreal, bank name appearing in the ribbon.
