LC-60-7 1820 Lower Canada Bust & Harp Token Extra Fine (EF-40)
On Canadian order, a new half penny token was struck in Great Britain. Known as "Bust & Harp" tokens due to their design, these tokens became popular among the Irish immigrants within Lower Canada. Soon after, these tokens were imitated in brass, and widely circulated throughout Lower Canada.
Obverse: Laureate and cuirassed bust of George IV facing left.
Reverse: A harp that incorporated the body of a winged female facing left, with the date below.
LC-60-7 Variety: On the obverse, the bust is small with three locks of hair that stand above the head, and five irregular ruffles of shirt frill. On the reverse, the stem of the lower shamrock is attached at the left of the leaf.
