These tokens are believed to portray Col. Charles Michel d'Irumberry de Salaberry, who repelled the Americans at Chateauguay and Crysler's Farm during the War of 1812, saving Montreal from the fate of York in Upper Canada. The clothing of the bust resembles that seen in a well-known painting of de Salaberry.
Obverse: Bust in military garb facing right, within a beaded circle.
Reverse: Commerce seated on a bale facing right, holding scales in her right hand, left hand resting behind, with the legend around and the date below.
