The bigleaf (or Oregon) maple is found throughout southwestern British Columbia. It produces little syrup, but has been used by Indigenous communities for generations for its hot, plentiful, and clean-burning firewood, and for the delicious taste of its young shoots. This selectively colourized coin, a play on Canada's famous Silver Maple bullion coin, is one of a series that celebrates the variety of Canada's native maple trees. ICCS has certified this coin as MS67.
