This medallion commemorates Canadian prelate G. Emmett Cardinal Carter, who served as Archbishop of Toronto from 1978 to 1990 and was elevated to the Cardinalate in 1979. The reverse features a portrait of Cardinal Carter, while the obverse displays the Coat of Arms of St. Paul’s College—a Roman Catholic institution affiliated with the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg—along with the Latin phrase “PAX ET LVX,” meaning “Peace and Light.” The medallion also includes the years 1912, 1937, 1962, and 1982 around the design.
