East India Company 1808 10 Cash Shipwrecked Coin in Display

Meant to be used at East India Company trading posts, these coins were packed aboard the Admiral Gardner. However, on her journey in 1809, she sank before she even got out of the English Channel, falling victim to a storm and wrecking on the treacherous Goodwin Sands. She remained undiscovered until 1985. These coins were some of the first to be pressed with all-new steam pressers during the industrial revolution in Great Britain, giving them a detailed finish. Please note the case shows scratches and scuff marks
