1858 Large Date RP2 Canada 5-cents VF-EF (VF30) Scratched, marks, or impaired
Large Date Variety: When the decision was made to increase the font size of the date on the Province of Canada 5-cents from small to large, and so as to not cause the small date working dies to become obsolete, a large date four numeral gang punch was produced to overstamp the remaining small date working dies. With a new large date, this produced three large over small date varieties.
RP2: Primary 8 is east of the secondary 8.
