Denmark 1925HCN GJ Krone Extra Fine (EF-40)
The Denmark 1925HCN GJ 1 Krone was minted under King Christian X (1912–1947), following the collapse of the Scandinavian Monetary Union in 1924 and Denmark’s abandonment of the gold standard after World War I. In response, Denmark replaced its costly silver coinage with aluminum-bronze issues, marking a transition to modern, fiduciary coins whose metallic value was deliberately less than their face value. The small heart mintmark identifies the Copenhagen Mint, while the initials HCN and GJ honor Mint Master Hans Christian Neilsen and Mint Engraver Gunnar Jensen, the key figures responsible for the coin’s production and design.
