DC-13a 1898 Dominion of Canada $1 Various-Coutrney, Inward ONES, G-VG (G6)
In 1897, the government of Canada decided to transfer its banknote printing business from the British American Banknote Co. to the American Banknote Co, New York. A branch of the American Banknote Co. was then established in Ottawa to primarily handle the government banknote printing.
After the Dominion of Canada of Canada $1 and $2 notes were printed by the American Banknote Co., the notes soon went under modifications for a 1898 release. The modifications took place to better distinguish the $1 from the $2 by changing the original $1 green tint colour to a light brown.

The two varieties that were found on the 1898 $1 were the "ONE" counters curved inward and the "ONE" counters curved outward.
