1953 No Shoulder Fold Canada Dollar ICCS Certified MS60
No Shoulder Fold Variety: As on all of the lower denominations, the 1953 silver dollars occur with two obverses, called the No Shoulder Strap (or Fold) and Shoulder Strap (or Fold) varieties. To better identify these differences, one must look at the letters on the legends. On the No Shoulder Strap variety, the letters have a pronounced flaring. The Shoulder Strap variety have much more subdued flaring.
Obverse: Laureate bust of Elizabeth II at 27 years old facing right, with the legend around.
Reverse: A voyageur and a First Nation's person travelling by canoe to the right, carrying bundles, one bearing the initials "H.B." for Hudson's Bay Company, with an island behind, with the country name above, and date and denomination below.
