In 1812 and 1813, Thomas Halliday struck an extensive series of anonymous tokens that saw use in England until 1817, when the tokens were ordered to be removed from circulation, and thus were shipped to Canada to circulate, as there was a large need for small-denominational coinage within the colonies.
Obverse: Laureate and draped bust of George III facing right within a wreath of oak.
Reverse: Agriculture seated facing left on a bale, scales in her right hand and a cornucopia in the left, with a ship in the distance.
LC-47B1 Variety: A small ship with a small expanse of water, the cornucopia has a full compliment of wheat, there are elaborate folds in Agriculture's gown, and the bale is uniform.
