British India 1879C Type B Bust Two Annas EF-AU (EF-45)
The British India 1879C Type B Bust Two Annas was struck under the reign of Queen Victoria, during a time when India was firmly under the control of the British Crown, following the dissolution of the East India Company in 1858. By 1879, the British Raj was well established, and the Calcutta Mint identified by the “C” mintmark, served as one of the main mints alongside Bombay and Madras. The Indian monetary system was based on the silver rupee, subdivided into 16 annas, with the two-annas coin representing one-eighth of a rupee.
