Belgium 1867 2 Francs F-VF (F-15)

The 1867 Belgium 2 Francs was minted during the early reign of King Leopold II, who succeeded his father, Leopold I, in 1865. At this time, Belgium was a stable and neutral country in Europe, carefully navigating tensions such as the Luxembourg Crisis, when France and Prussia disputed control over the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Although Belgium maintained its neutrality, the crisis highlighted the young nation’s delicate position in European politics, and coins like this 2 Francs reflected both the authority of the monarchy and the stability of the Belgian state.

Obverse: Head of King Leopold II sporting a beard and facing left, with motto around.

Reverse: Belgian coat of arms with the grand collar of the Order of Leopold separating the denomination, date below, and legend in French above.
