1983 Edmonton, AB, Summer Universiade Octagonal Token in Case
The 1983 Summer Universiade was held in Edmonton, Alberta, between July 1 and 12. It was the first such event to be held in North America, and remains the only time Canada has hosted. This unusually shaped token -- octagonal, and nearly 5 milimetres thick -- was issued as a thanks for support in the event. The obverse features the Universiade's logo, whilst the reverse reads, "In appreciation of support for Universiade '83." The token comes in its original red plush case.
