Canadian Army Reserve Lincoln & Welland Regiment "Lest We Forget" Challenge Coin

The Lincoln & Welland Regiment is a reserve infantry unit located in St. Catherines, Ontario. Their history connects to the Butler's Rangers, a famously ruthless band of New York Loyalists who fought for the British Crown in the American Revolutionary War. After the war, the Rangers were given land grants in the Niagara area. There, they formed the Lincoln Militia, which later saw action in the War of 1812, World War I, World War II, and Afghanistan.

This beautifully detailed medallion is a challenge coin, which is a token traditionally used to prove membership to a military unit (i.e. to answer a "challenge"). It memorializes the Battle of Vimy Ridge, depicting a field gun and a maple leaf in front of the Canadian National Vimy Memorial in France.
