Austrian States 1722 Wolfgang Olmütz Thaler Extra Fine + (EF-40+)
The 1722 Wolfgang Olmütz Thaler was issued under the authority of Prince-Bishop Wolfgang Hannibal von Schrattenbach, who governed the Prince-Bishopric of Olmütz from 1711 to 1738. By 1722, Schrattenbach had firmly established his rule, overseeing both the spiritual and temporal administration of the bishopric during the post-war stabilization period following the War of the Spanish Succession (1701–1714). His administration focused on strengthening the local economy and stabilizing coinage, and this thaler represents one of the bishopric’s larger silver issues of that year, intended for both local commerce and broader circulation across Habsburg territories.
