The Austrian Empire 1664 15 Kreuzer coin was a standard silver coin circulated throughout the Habsburg territories, a collection of lands ruled by the House of Habsburg, one of Europe’s most powerful dynasties from the 15th to the 20th centuries. Issued during the reign of Leopold I, Holy Roman Emperor and ruler of the Austrian territories, the coin circulated during the Habsburg victory over the Ottoman army in the Austro-Turkish War (1663–64), formalized by the Peace of Vasvár after the Battle of Saint Gotthard on August 1, 1664.
