Australia 1927M Penny Extra Fine (EF-40)

The Australian penny was first introduced in 1911 and last minted in 1964. From 1911 to 1936, the obverse featured the portrait of King George V, while the reverse displayed the word “ONE PENNY” within a beaded circular border, surrounded by the legend “COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA” with the date below.

The 1927M Australia Penny was struck at the Melbourne Mint. The "M" mintmark signifies that the coin was minted at the Melbourne branch of the Royal Mint.  

Obverse: Crowned and draped bust of King George V facing to the left, wearing the Imperial Crown and the ermine Robe of State, the Collar of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, and the Badge of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath.
Reverse: Denomination in words in the centre within a circle of beads, with the date below.
