Originally issued by the United States Mint to raise funds for the restoration of the Statue of Liberty, this handsome set comes with two themed coins. The first is a .900 silver dollar featuring the Statue of Liberty at Ellis Island. The reverse features words from Emma Lazarus' poem, "The New Colossus." The second is a clad half dollar featuring the New York skyline in 1913, with the Statue welcoming an inbound liner. The reverse is based on a photograph of immigrants at Ellis Island, waiting to go to New York.
